On the Sorbs' traces in Bautzen
Britze Garden

The garden is located directly behind the Sorbian Institute in Bahnhofstraße. For a famous artist of Bautzen it was a place of muse.

Behind the building of the Sorbian Institute you will find the Britze Garden. It was laid out at the end of the 19th century as a villa garden which bear witness to the work of the Britze family in Bautzen. This is closely connected with the production of mustard in Bautzen. An important child of the house is the painter Marianne Britze who was co-founder and managing director of various artists' associations in Lusatia. The garden served her as a place of retreat and inspiration. Thanks to the Lusatian artist associations the small landscape park has been preserved. Today the garden is occasionally used for Sorbian art and cultural events. Mehr
