Sorbian newspaper -

The Serbske Nowiny newspaper has its roots back in the 18th century. Continuing this tradition, the Sorbian Newspaper is still published here.

The editorial office of the Sorbian evening newspaper "Serbske Nowiny" is located in the same building as the Domowina publishing house and the bookstore J.A.Smoler. The history of the Sorbian press goes back to the 18th century. The first regularly published Sorbian press product was "The Sorbian Narrator and Courier". Until the year 1812 he published current political and national news. The first edition of the Sorbian newspaper "Serbske Nowiny" appeared in the middle of the 19th century. It took until the twenties of the 20th century before the newspaper was allowed to appear as a daily newspaper. After the ban of the newspaper by the Nazi regime and the troubles of the post-war period, it lasted until 1955 when it was reissued. With the title "Nowa Doba", the Sorbian newspaper was again available as a daily newspaper. The evening newspaper, which is always published on weekdays, currently has around 2,000 readers. Once a month it also publishes an edition in German. Mehr
